Sitcoms (FOX)
Over the next week I am going to examine the Sitcoms (excluding cartoons) that are currently on television. First up, FOX.
'TIL DEATH
Wednesday 8:00
This show stars Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond fame and is about marriage. It also has Eddie Kay Thomas (nerdy kid from American Pie series). It is actually a pretty amusing show, it deals with relationship humor and does so quite well. Garrett is funny and his chemistry with his on screen wife Joely Fisher (used to be in Ellen, has nice boobies) is good.
They also just added J.B. Smoove (who was Leon in Curb your Enthusiasm and has an awesome name) as the Garrett's black friend. He adds a nice touch to the series and provides a few chuckles.
Verdict: Entertaining show and mildly amusing. Watch if you like Garrett or have nothing better going on Wednesday at 8.
BACK TO YOU
Wednesday 8:30
Kelsey Grammer of Frasier fame and another Raymond alum, Patricia Heaton star as a pair of local news anchors in Pittsburgh. Grammer went away to a bigger market for ten years but came back after being fired for an embarrassing comment. When he comes he finds out the one night he spent with Heaton has resulted in a 10 year old child.
I really wanted to like this show, Frasier was one of my favorite sitcoms ever and Heaton was good in Raymond but there is really nothing to this show. The stars have decent chemistry and the supporting cast (including Fred Willard) is ok but there is nothing really funny or enjoyable about this show. It's not that the show is terrible it's just that there are hardly any laughs and I found it really hard to care about the characters. Fred Willard is funny but he is just about the only one.
They are apparently getting some new cast members soon and hopefully some new writers but as of right now I can't recommend it.
Verdict: Blah show. Not worth your time.
