NBC Sitcoms
Today I'm gonna provide some mini reviews of the sitcoms currently on NBC. Here we go:
MY NAME IS EARL
Thursdays 8:00
This series stars Jason Lee (from Kevin Smith movies) as Earl, a white trash ex-con who decides to turn his life around (and get karma on his side) by atoning for all of his past misdeeds. The show also has Jamie Pressley who I like. Every episode usually consists of Earl and his dumb ass brother trying to make up for some stupid thing they did in the past.
I have given this show quite a few chances but I really can't get into it. It has its moments but overall it's more zany and wacky than funny.
Verdict: Sucks, don't waste your time.
SCRUBS
Thursday 8:30
Scrubs takes place in a teaching hospital. It stars Zach Braff as Dr. John "J.D." Michael Dorian and deals with his time at the hospital with his best friend Turk. There is an assorted cast of characters including his arch emeny the Janitor and a sarcastic older Doctor who serves as his unwitting mentor.
I really like this show. It has a really good cast and provides some laughs every episode. The finale for the seventh season is on tonight and then the show is coming back for an eighth season but not on NBC. It is rumored that it will move to ABC but nothing is official yet.
Verdict: Funny show. Watch the reruns on Comedy Central and get ready for the 8th season during the 2008-2009 Television season (most likely on ABC).
The Office
Thursday 9:00
The office is a show that takes place in an office (shocker!!) and stars Steve Carell as a stupid and annoying boss of a Scraton paper distribution company. It is filmed in the style of a documentary where the presence of the camera is acknowledged. There is a nice mix of characters and the chemistry is good. Steve Carell is great in it and is the most amusing part of the show.
Verdict: Enjoyable and funny show. Check it out
30 Rock
Thursday 9:30
This show stars Tina Fey as the head writer for a SNL type late night sketch comedy show. It also has Tracy Morgan basically playing a crazier version of himself and Alec Baldwin as the head of NBC. I think 30 Rock is one of the best shows on TV right now. It is really well written and is very funny. This is another show with a finale tonight.
Verdict: Watch it. Rent the DVD's if you've never seen it.
